Padrão Camoneano

Ordered to be erected by the Óbidos Tourism and Initiative Committee at the entrance to the town, it was inaugurated in 1932 to mark the reference that Luís de Camões makes to the town of Óbidos in “Os Lusíadas”, Canto III, Stanza 61, where he states that all of Extremadura obeys D. Afonso Henriques, and this monument was built by the architect Raul Lino, with the aim of exalting the great national achievements.
