Chafariz de D. Maria I / Chafariz do Poço

In medieval times there was a public well next to Postigo de Baixo, which was called Poço do Município.

In 1792, Queen Mary I ordered the fountain to be erected for public use. In this way, the name Chafariz do Poço or Arrabalde preserves the memory of the pre-existing structure.
